The city of Zadar is one of the largest cities in Dalmatia and one of the most important maritime and transport sites in the Adriatic Sea. It is situated in central Dalmatia at the foot of the Velebit Mountain. The Old Town, known for its rich history and culture, is located on the popular peninsula. Throughout its turbulent history, Zadar has been besieged and attacked by various military forces such as the Eastern Goths, Romans, Venetians, Crusaders, Turks, French, Austrians, Italians, Allies, Yugoslav Army and many others. Although, the city was bombarded and levelled to the ground in WW II, many sacral and historical object remained intact.
After a full day of swimming and recreation, evenings are best spent strolling around the Zadar promenade with the distinct sound of the Sea Organs in the background and the view of the world’s most famous sunset at the place called Greetings to the Sun. Later in the evening, be sure to indulge in some good Dalmatian wine and Mediterranean specialities.
We hope that this experience will be unforgettable and inspiring for you to return to Zadar and other Dalmatian towns like Šibenik or Trogir.
